Meet The Owner

Lauren Calhoun

Licenced Esthetician

If you're curious about the role of an Esthetician, allow me to provide some clarity. An Esthetician is a skincare specialist who offers personalized treatments and services to improve the health and appearance of the skin. My training encompasses several techniques, such as facials, waxing, and skincare consultations. With my expertise, I can help address specific skin concerns, recommend suitable products, create a tailored skincare regimen, and assist in achieving your skin goals. On the next page, you will find a list of additional certificates, on top of the licensing program, that I have completed in this field.

Prior to establishing Rebel Heart Beauty Co, I embarked on a journey into aesthetics seven years ago. After spending time at home with my two eldest children, I enrolled in cosmetology school, where I discovered my passion for skincare. While studying, I found myself drawn to the facial room, and I began researching and learning about various skin concerns. Unfortunately, my schooling was interrupted after 400 hours into a 1500-hour course due to a high-risk pregnancy. However, after six years and a conversation with my eleven-year-old, I realized that I couldn't encourage my children to follow their dreams if I gave up on mine. Following extensive research, I found a program that fit our schedules, allowing me to become a Licensed Esthetician. In a few more months, I will become a Licensed Master Esthetician.

Allow me to explain my connection to this town and the historic Trout building. The Trout Building holds significant importance to my family, and its preservation is of utmost priority. Firstly, Listening to my grandfather's tales of bygone days, when he was served a cold fountain drink on a barstool, always fills my heart with joy. Secondly, My Great Aunt Mary was one of my favorite people all throughout my childhood. I remember playing in her thrift shop as a little girl, I might not be able to remember the words spoken but I can see her face and smile to this day. Sadly, we lost Aunt Mary in November of 2012, just two days before the delivery of the first baby girl in our family in over two decades, the last words she ever spoke to me were “I can’t wait you meet your babygirl.” as she was leaving our baby shower. As our family grieved the loss of Aunt Mary, we found solace in welcoming our newborn daughter, whom we named after her. It was our way of keeping her memory alive, and our little one has done an amazing job of embodying her spirit. Nearly eleven years later, I made a post on Facebook seeking suggestions for a location to open my spa. Upon visiting an office space in the Trout Building, I was immediately drawn to it, despite being unsure why at the time(I didn’t know anything about the trout building or it’s history with our family, besides the cold drinks). A few days after my visit, I brought my Nanny to see the space, and she became emotional. She revealed that Aunt Mary, had her first job in that very building. I was moved to tears, as I often feel that my Aunt has been watching over and guiding me for many years, and this was just another instance of her influence in my life. Again, During the remodeling process, a keychain was discovered under the sawdust, and while no one knew its origin, I did. It was a guardian angel, delivered to me on a day that all small business owners face, questioning whether they're cut out for the challenge. This reminder keeps me movitated to follow my passion and trust my rebel heart.
